From Shanghai on Day 2

Everything went great. The plane ride was loooooooooooooong but Duncan was great. There was a batch of TV and movies that kept repeating so he did that and also he got a R/C nanopet that he played with. He slept some, not as much as I had hoped.

There was a cute little Chinese – American girl, 3 YO in front of him and he played with her some – drew some pictures and made some origami and shared his toy.

We got through immigration fine and then to the Maglev also. On the Maglev a guy (from VA) who comes here a lot for work was helping another family from US or maybe Mexico figure out where to go and so we talked and then we tagged along too. He helped us get to the Metro and then helped us get our tickets, as did a deaf man who asked for a tip. We both gave him 1 RMB.

Then we swiched trains up and down steps and escalators from line 2 to line 1 and then out into the city. Went wrong way and a nice parking guy pointed us in the right direction. People here really nice and helpful. And many stare at Duncan a lot. He said he just stares back!

The hotel was 1 block from Metro and we walked there (traffic is dangerous! Watch for the motorscooters) I walked in and actually we stopped at the wrong hotel first cause ours was next door.

Hotel looks great. We are in the “executive area” which is on the 26th of 30 floors and you get a room with a door and an “L” shaped couch. Should be enough room for all of us. We didn’t need 2 BR but I think a regular room would be too small. Also in the executive area you get breakfast and some sort of evening food as well as all the pop and water you want. And free beer and wine in the evening. Need to get blankets and pack and play.

I started to get unpacked some but gave up. Too tired.
